How to avoid cracking in Designers Gouache painting

11

Designers Gouache’s Opaque and Matte Effects Are Due to the High Level of Pigments Used in Its Formulation. Therefore, the Ratio of Binder (gum Arabic) to Pigment is Lower Than That of Watercolors.

When Using Gouache, Cracking Can Usually Be Attributed to One of the Following Two Conditions:

1.if the Water Used to Dilute the Color is Insufficient, the Thicker Film May Crack As the Paint Dries on the Paper (note That the Amount of Water Required for Each Color Will Vary).
2.if You Are Painting in Layers, if the Bottom Layer Absorbs the Adhesive in the Wet Color, the Latter Layer May Crack.
