Do you understand all these knowledge of oil brushes?

Brush property selection

Pighair brushes are the best brush type for oil paints, matching the consistency of the paint itself to the rough texture of the canvas.

Different shapes of the tip can draw different strokes. The flathead pen is the most common and can be applied quickly and accurately.

Short flat brush–

Shorter than a long flat brush, the length and width of the brush is roughly the same, used for dipping heavier paint into short, heavy strokes. Short flat brushes tend to produce flat square strokes, so be careful when using them.

Round head oil brush–

The tip of the pen brush is round and pointed, which is good for drawing thinner lines and longer strokes with thin paint. Ballpoint brushes are often used to perfect details in paintings.

Long flat brush–

A long flat brush has a square head and longer bristles than a short flat brush. Long flat brushes have a strong ability to absorb pigments and are suitable for longer strokes or fine lines at the edges of paintings. A long flat brush is best for large areas of color, especially with high concentrations of paint.

Hazelnut paint brush–

The hazelnut brush has a flat oval tip for a round stroke. Its shape determines whether it can draw heavy strokes or light strokes. A hazelnut brush is better for blending colors than a long flat brush.

Liner Detail Brush–

With their long, soft bristles, they are often used to draw light lines, such as branches or cables, and to sign their names on paintings.

The best oil brushes maintain the edge’s firmness and shape for a long time. And relatively low – priced products can maintain the original state in a relatively short time.

Soft brush is a better choice when it comes to shading or detail painting. Soft bristles minimize pen marks.

The long stylus allows the artist to draw at a distance from the picture. To avoid unnecessary wear and tear, oil paints should be mixed in the palette before being used for painting.
